MORTON FELDMAN: Two Intermissions (1950)
HAYDN: Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI:50
Given his nearly four decades on the international concert stage, it is surprising that Pedja Muzijevic makes his Washington Performing Arts debut with this performance. The Bosnian-born pianist has been praised by London’s Financial Times as “a virtuoso with formidable fingers and a musician with fiercely original ideas about the music he plays.” His D.C. program, titled Haydn Dialogues, features the novel alternation of Haydn sonatas with contemplative works by 20th-century luminaries John Cage and Morton Feldman and the world premiere of a new work by Jonathan Berger.
